I’m back from my mini break, after the pace of the 31 day Challenge a lovely long-weekend style break was just what I needed.
So, I expect you’re wondering, what’s up next here at Over the Moon? Well quite out-of-the-blue I’ve decided to jump right into a new blog series. I’m not sure of the title yet but it will have a storage / organisation theme. For those of you who follow me on Pinterest you might have noticed a new board (hint). I’m also happy to see that my Pinterest board Creative Craft Storage (where I’m pinning most of the featured craft storage ideas, and many more) has been getting some Pinterest love.
Christmas is also just around the corner and starting on Monday I’m diving in to some Christmas colour palettes. In January, I will be starting the new series – I’ll announce the title soon.
A New Kitten
For those of you who subscribe to the MoonLetter, my weekly newsletter, you might remember that I mentioned that the family is on the hunt for a new furry family member.
We currently have a hyperactive 5yo Kelpie named Cooper and a 15yo moggy cat called Tigger. Tigger, named after Tigger in Winnie the Pooh, has been having some health problems. Thankfully we’ve finally found a vet who understands. Apparently Tigger has Atypical Hyperthyroidism but with a tiny tablet added to her diet she’s getting some of her energy and appetite back.
After chatting to the new vet, she agrees that Tigger would benefit from having another cat in the family. She recommended that we wait a month before adding to the family to ensure Tigger’s health has stabilised, and that we search for a male kitten instead of an adult cat.
The Search is Over
Well, the search is officially over! On Saturday we visited a Devon Rex breeder who’s soon-to-be retired Queen “dallied” with an unauthorised male. The breeder had written one of the funniest and most engaging ads for the cross-bred kittens, voicing her displeasure at her cat’s choice of partner. Apparently the female is an escape artist and has “dallied” with this tom before. We spent most of the afternoon on Saturday playing with the litter of silver tabby Devon Rex cross kittens.
Sorry for the blurry photo, he moves so quickly. This little fellow is 5 weeks old and will be coming to live with us in early December. It looks like he will have blue eyes and, unlike purebred Devon Rex, he will have a full set of whiskers. We will have to wait and see if he will grow the crimped fur of a Devon Rex.
Of course now we have to find a name for him too! Currently the favourites are
- Pippin
- Loki
- Smaugh (so when he destroys something we can say “The Desolation of Smaugh)
The girls are leaning towards names from Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and the Avengers. You might like to know that Tigger’s nickname is Thor, because she has a purr like thunder.
All suggestions are welcome, leave any ideas for us in the comments.
Coming tomorrow … a new colour palette.
