Suddenly Spring Challenge and Blog Hop
Today is the big reveal for Michelle Mach Suddenly Spring Challenge.
This is my first blog challenge and I was quite nervous about what I would do with the bracelet.
First thing I noticed when I opened the package (apart from the “extras” and the beautiful packaging) was that the blue crystals seemed to be similar in colour to “Hawaiian Ocean” from the Pantone Spring Colour report.
The crochet lace is from one of my mother’s English Women’s Weekly Magazines published in the 70’s. My thanks go to Pearl at Beading Gem’s Journal for her tutorial on Crochet and Chain Mixed Media Bracelet. I’ve used Violet Opal bicones with the spacer beads in the kit and lucite flowers with the aqua beads. The photograph shows the lucite flowers much darker than they are in real life but every time I tried to fix the colours in Photoshop the green crochet lace turned and icky (yep icky!) colour. You’ll have to believe me when I say the lucite is closer Pantone “Bellflower” than the blue you see here.
The ring is a simple crochet flower with a crochet disc in the closest match to Pantone Tangerine Tango I could find. The photo makes the colour of the disc a little softer than it really is.
Next I felt the need for some simple earrings.
The first two earrings are a basic design with moonstones in the first one and purple AB for the middle one. For the last one I used these heart shaped connectors at a craft show a couple of years ago. I really wish I had more of them, they look quite sweet with their matching beadcaps.
And finally…
This ones a real mixed bag so to speak. Gun metal wire, brass chain, fire polished 4mm purple Czech beads, sari silk and one of my crochet flowers as a clasp.
I still haven’t used all of the beads in the kit, I still have six of the aquamarine beads left. I’ve promised a pair of earrings to my youngest daughter and my SIL, so when I decide on the designs I’ll post them here.
I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at my “creations”. Please feel free to comment below and please visit Michelle for the full list of participants.
Thanks for visiting!
That lace is stunning. You certainly did an entire collection from one bracelet. I especially like the necklace with the gun metal chain.
Love the lace. I love the use of crochet in these pieces. I also did some crochet in mine but with the sari silk you can’t really tell that it is crocheted but it gave me the base I needed to work with. Great job.
My pieces made me smile as soon as I saw them. The ring is my favorite piece. Thanks for sharing
I love the use of crochet! That ring is especially sweet!
I know what you mean about the colors in the photos. That is always so aggravating when it doesn’t look the same way it looks in real life.
Thanks for joining the challenge!
That bracelet with the green crochet is just darling! I love mixing different elements in my designs and the crochet works perfectly.
Very pretty designs and a great job for your first challenge. The lace and chain bracelet is my favorite has a very Victorian feel.

Cool use of crochet with the challenge beads. Love the collection of earrings. ;-)
Nice work! LOVE the gunmetal!
Very nice. I especially like the creative clasp in the necklace. I’d never have considered crochet for that. So unique!
Karen – The lace and chain bracelet is so pretty! Also love how you paired gunmetal with the pretty crochet flower. Great job!
I have beads. And I crochet, too. Why have I never imagined the two combined into lovely wearable jewelry? (That’s what blog hops are for, I suppose!) Thanks so much for reminding me to use my imagination a little more.
You had me at Hello with your designs. YOU are FABULOUS!!! nice to meet you! jean xox
Lovely and feminine. The bracelet is gorgeous, and I love the “mixed bag” of the necklace. The crochet flower gives it a touch of softness.
Your necklace has a gypsy feel to it. I like it a lot. My favorite however, is those little silver heart shaped ear rings with the aquamarine stones. They could go with just about anything.
Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. For some reason I can’t seem to get bloggers threaded comments to work on my template.
I’ve visited almost everyone in the challenge and have loved everything I saw.
Fantastic result for the crochet lace piece!! I am most impressed. Glad I could inspire. I also love that flower ring!
I really love that crochet lace bracelet. All of your pieces are beautiful.
